Advice - Under construction

Starting off in astronomy can be a daunting prospect, what am I looking at? what telescope do I use? how do I take a picture?

There is a mind boggling range of telescopes, mounts, cameras, filters, tripods, finders, binoculars, eyepieces and other accessories out there to deplete your bank account.

What can I see in the night sky?

Important - The advice we give if you want to observe the sun is don't! So much can go wrong if you don't have experience. Contact your local astronomy club and ask for help there. They will have dedicated solar observing equipment and will be more than happy for you to have a look and advise the best way forward for you. Contact the East Essex Astronomy Club by email at the address at the bottom of this page.
